Skystones are "found objects". The minerals and stones have secrets and intrinsic beauty revealed only when polished. Learning to spot those "in the rough" became the principal skill, surmounted only by sculpting. The rocks and minerals collected are from their original site and each has a story, often epic in their finding.

Skystones are marked with the Old Norse letter "C" for Carl and often with three dots. All cleaned by hand with brushes and soaked in lemon juice, apple cider, vinegar, soap, and water. Afterwards they are shaped and hand polished.
